Gombe National Park is one of the world’s most iconic pri­mate research sites, made famous by Dr. Jane Goodall’s pio­neer­ing chim­panzee stud­ies. Located on the shores of Lake Tan­ganyika near Kigoma, this small but pow­er­ful park offers deep rain­for­est trekking and inti­mate encoun­ters with wild chim­panzees in their nat­ural habitat.

16 km north of Kigoma town along Lake Tan­ganyika, West­ern Tanzania.

🚗 Access

Fly or drive to Kigoma from Dar es Salaam, Arusha or Mwanza, then boat trans­fer to the park.

Two rainy sea­sons: short rains (Oct – Nov) and long rains (Mar – May), with lush trop­i­cal con­di­tions year-round.

Access via boat (Lake Tan­ganyika), char­ter flights, or road from Kigoma (approx. 5 – 10 hours depend­ing on route).
